TOP 5 ESSENTIAL SKILLS TO SUCCEED IN CORPORATE AMERICA – presented by Carol Smith Wooden.

 

Ms. Wooden began her presentation by describing a path from her home town of Detroit, into and through the TSU College of Engineering, and stops in Boston, Los Angeles, London, and Dallas while rising as a Supply Chain expert at the Raytheon Corporation. 

Ms. Wooden went on to identify, describe, and explore her Top 5 Essential Skills that helped her rise up in corporate engineering America:  (1) PERSONAL BRAND MANAGEMENT:  the importance of behaviors, distinctions, and perceptions; (2) EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION:  speaking/listening skills, email/social media etiquette, and body language; (3) SOLUTION-DRIVEN EXECUTION:  how to identify solutions to problems; (4) PROFITABLE RELATIONSHIPS:  the art of power networking and building multiple relationship types; and (5) CAREER JOURNEY: having a “roadmap”, mapping your journey, and ultimately sharing the journey with others.
